June 2019 Meeting

Fantastic presentation last week. I enjoyed my visit to the MUG and will return!

After doing some thinking, and learning, it seems that a Raid 5 is not a backup solution. I'm wondering if a Raid 1 with say 8 drives (4 net) would be a better solution for a home media server... say like Plex.

Next meeting: Tuesday, 11 June, 2019

First Half Hour at 6 PM
Main Presentation at 6:30 PM

Topic: APFS with Jeff Carlson

Jeff Carlson, jeffcarlson.com, author of Take Control of Your Digital Storage, will be back with us again speaking on APFS: how APFS works, how it’s different than what we’ve known before, and why it’s important. APFS is the new drive format used on Macs, starting with Sierra. It has implications on how data is stored, recovered, how back-ups work and more. And, how does the old HFS+ standard work, when you have old back-up drives? Come and learn important information.

The meeting is at the Metrum Credit Union, 1/3 of a mile south of Arapahoe on the east side of Holly in Centennial. The doors will open at 6 PM, and the visit time will be from 6 PM to 6:30 PM. A good time to ask questions and get advice from fellow members!

As always, we will meet about 5 PM at the Panera Bread on the SE corner of Holly and Orchard for a little supper.
