August 2018 Meeting

Jon,

Fantastic presentation last week. I enjoyed my visit to the MUG and will return!

After doing some thinking, and learning, it seems that a Raid 5 is not a backup solution. I'm wondering if a Raid 1 with say 8 drives (4 net) would be a better solution for a home media server... say like Plex.

Thoughts?

Ron

Next meeting: Tuesday, 14 August, 2018

First Half Hour at 6 PM
Main Presentation at 6:30 PM
Home Automation with Brad Tombaugh

With the advent of HomeKit & a multitude of connected devices to choose from, your Apple device can control many aspects of your home, from setting the temperature to lighting to garage doors to security to making sure the plants get watered. Just a few years ago, it was difficult to set up your home system; it's a lot easier now!

Brad Tombaugh is going to explain how to easily get your home automation up and running. You can get started with something as simple as Amazon Alexa. This is sure to be a fascinating evening with many ideas of how to bring your home into the 21st Century.

The meeting is at the Metrum Credit Union, 1/3 of a mile south of Arapahoe on the east side of Holly in Centennial. The doors will open at 6 PM, and the visit time will be from 6 PM to 6:30 PM. A good time to ask questions and get advice from fellow members! As always, we will meet about 5 PM and the Panera Bread on the SE corner of Holly and Orchard for a little supper.
