August 2017 Meeting

Fantastic presentation last week. I enjoyed my visit to the MUG and will return!

After doing some thinking, and learning, it seems that a Raid 5 is not a backup solution. I'm wondering if a Raid 1 with say 8 drives (4 net) would be a better solution for a home media server... say like Plex.

Next meeting: Tuesday, 8 August, 2017

First Half Hour at 6 PM
Main Presentation at 6:30 PM
iWork: Keynote

Michelle Lamoreaux will demonstrate and give lots of tips for using Keynote. Keynote is part of the iWork group of apps that runs on macOS and iOS. Keynote is the presentation tool zimmie uses each month to present the introductory notes at the beginning of meetings. Keynote is used by Apple execs to give the presentations at which new products are announced.

Michelle says "Join us August 8 to see the many options Keynote has to offer. Apple’s versatile presentation application allows users to create engaging presentations. With a variety of themes and templates, it’s easy and quick to make a powerful presentation. Starting with some presentation best practices and the overall functionality of the tool’s interface on both Mac and iOS devices. Then we’ll dive into creating a presentation from scratch, editing master slides, adding media, charts & tables, animation & transitions as well as the Rehearse mode allowing users to practice their presentations. In addition we’ll review using the Keynote Remote."

Bring your questions!

The meeting is at the Metrum Credit Union, 1/3 of a mile south of Arapahoe on the east side of Holly in Centennial. The doors will open at 6 PM, and the visit time will be from 6 PM to 6:30 PM. A good time to ask questions and get advice from fellow members! As always, we will meet about 5 PM and the Panera Bread on the SE corner of Holly and Orchard for a little supper.
